HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol)

What problem does it address?

Hypertext Transfer Protocol allows computer to request and share webpages,
audio, images, videos, and a lot of other file types over the internet

How does the layer work

Computers communicate in plain text using GET to request files or send data.
The server that recives the request responds with the files requesed which are displayed
by yor browser. HTTP requests are sent between computer over the internet as part of TCP/IP packts

it was originally designed by Tim Berners-Lee as a simple protocol to facilitate the
adoption of his other idea, the World Wide Web, and was intended to be easy
to implement, which contributed to its widespread use across the internet today;
essentially, HTTP was created specifically to power the web as we know it
